The Pan Mass Challenge (Cross Posted)

I apologize to anybody reading this again. I want to get the word out.

It started as a ride. It started as a way of remembering a mother or a sister. A father or a brother. A friend or someone they had just met. Less than 20 friends getting together to ride and remember someone that had succumbed to cancer. More than 20 years later and donations totaling over $100 million dollars, it has turned into an event. An event that celebrates those that have survived and for those that will.

We ride in remembrance. We ride for those not yet cured. Those that cannot say, "I am cancer free for one year, two years, three years". We ride for those not old enough to experience a Red Sox World Championship, or a Patriots Super Bowl victory. We ride for those that cannot understand why this has happened to them and for those that never had a chance to fight back. We ride for those who wait for a cure.

I am part of the PMC family – a unified force working toward a common goal. We’re athletes, weekend warriors, or (like myself) have little previous cycling experience. But we all have one thing in common - the commitment to helping others and being part of an effort much larger than ourselves.

I am part of the PMC family - and I need your help. I hate asking for money, so I won’t. Instead, I’m inviting you to a fundraiser.

Please join me in supporting this great cause.

Shimmies for a Cure – Part Deux
March 29, 2008
Somerville City Club
Somerville, MA 02143

A night a great dancing performed by some of New England’s favorite belly dancers.

$25 includes over 20 performers, hors dourves, a chocolate fountain with dipping delights, and non-alcoholic beverages.

There will be raffles, a silent auction, and vending.

The Somerville City Club is located close to Sullivan Square T stop and close to Route 93.

All proceeds from this fundraiser go to the Pan Mass Challenge.

It’s easy to purchase tickets:
Send checks made out to “PMC – The Jimmy Fund” to:

Come on up.
Operating on a non-capitalist, non-consumerist, non-competitive paradigm that I hope will help heal the planet I'm looking to network with folks, to extend an invitation to visit Bald Mountain Retreat (www.baldmountainretreat.com) as my guest. Like-minded people who appreciate rustic accommodations are welcome to come up at no charge. (Those who require a private room can inquire about those accommodations as well.)
We’re just being born and I’m looking for folks to come help manifest the vision. There is the opportunity to come stay with a retired naturopathic doctor in a truly amazing natural setting, secluded, idyllic, peaceful... Sharing is best.
Also, if you might like to lead a retreat, please contact me.
Thank you and you are welcome,
Dr David

Simone Forti "Logomotion Writing Workshop" \ project in residence

Caravajal15 residenza dinamica
Orvieto \ Italy
International Projects 2008

Hello!
We are happy to announce that Simone Forti will be again the guest artist of our residence, for giving her intensive residential workshop “Logomotion Writing Workshop”.
The intensive workshop with Simone Forti is in the ambit of our international projects 2008, and will be from March 8 to 15 2008 in the beautiful Etruscan city of Orvieto, in mid Italy.
The workshop is limited to 16 participants.
The intensive workshop will be held at the headquarters of the cultural Association Caravajal15 residenza dinamica, in the prestigious sixteenth century rooms of the Palazzo Caravajal-Simoncelli.
The fee is 400 euros, which includes also hospitality, reception and meals.
Application for registration is open from October 15th.
For information write to: info@contactfestival.it, or telephone to +39 0763.341479.
Info and texts below.

Simone Forti \ Logomotion Writing Workshop
Intensive residential workshop
8-15 March 2008
maximum 16 participants
7-day workshop, plus one day pause
fee 400 euros (including meals and lodging)
pre-registration: 150 euros

Logomotion Writing Workshop
Sometimes our words don't have access to what we know in our bones.
In this workshop we will be improvising moving and speaking, and we will be writing.
While our writing will stimulate our imagination and support our improvisations, our improvisations will enrich our writing with a kinesthetic timing to phrasing and windows on sudden thoughts and memories.
Our activities will include studio sessions of improvisational moving and speaking, spontaneous writing, walks in town, with partners, for conversations about matters large and small, and private times to write and to craft our writings and to read them to each other.
We will borrow from the writing practice of Natalie Goldberg as found in her books “Writing Down the Bones” and “Wild Mind”, discovering the associations that gather spontaneously around a chosen point of departure.
As our movement work will include many activities in partners and in groups, some of our writing will include more than one voice, focusing on the relationships between the thoughts of different people.
A goal will be to write with wild mind and intention, and with awareness of world.

Jennifer Dunning writes in her 1991 New York Times review: “Simone Forti presented her first dance program in 1960 and has since then had a steadily increasing influence on post-modernist choreographers interested in exploring ‘natural’ or non-formalist movement and dance”.

I am trying to plan a trip to Boston and am curious about the weather for March and April in Boston? What is the average temperature? (I looked at a website and it said the average temp for March is like 15 degrees...that can't be right!), Help!
Thanks :)

Looking for Drinking Guide and Party Suggestions

Greetings everyone! My fiance and I are getting married in Boston on the 20th of July and I am I looking for suggestions regarding where we should go to party and have fun in the Boston area. We are all about good beer and friendly atmospheres. Live music in the Irish or acoustic vein would be good.

We are actually arriving on the 14th and will leave on the 22nd, so we will have many evenings where we will be looking for places to hang out and meet some new people. We would love to find a group of people to bar hop with or just hang out with any of the evenings we are in town.

If you are interested in being a party guide and would enjoy a few free beers, let me know. You can read more about me in my profile. My fiance is Mel - people.tribe.net/chasingjoy

Thank you in advance.

I made a swimming map (x-post, my apologies)

I'm x-posting this to all the Boston tribes. I hope that isn't tooooooo annoying. I apologize to those who have allergies to crossposting

Now that the weather is getting hot, it's time for beaches and swimming holes.

I started this Platial map of Places I know about close-ish to Boston for swimming.

Check it out: http://www.platial.com/tracy_the_astonishing/map/7166

One cool thing about the map is that you can add places to it without getting my permission. If you know of a great swim spot that isn't on the map, just add it. Don't send me directions, just click yourself a little marker right on the map. You can also comment on Places you've been to, add pictures, whatever.

I hope you enjoy it.

The tribe formerly known as Urban Paradoxes has morphed into the broader territory of Urban Delights:

This is a tribe for those who love cities, a place to share the Joy of Urbanism. Here we can discuss our own cities and those we love (or not) around the world; our urban travels and explorations; and the promises, perils, paradoxes and potential of urban life.

Previous description (Urban Paradoxes): The urban environment is full of paradoxes waiting to be explored. Here is the opportunity to share urban paradoxes and your experiences as an urban flaneur.

Any film/animation/special effects internships out there?

Hello there. My name is Emily and I am currently a film/animation student at Bennington College. I am looking for an internship in the Boston area which relates in any way to my field of study but I have been having a difficult time finding anything. I have a great deal of experience with all aspects of film and animation work and I am also interested in makeup and special effects. Does anyone out there know of someplace which might have a use for me? Thank you very much for your help. Any suggestions you can give me will be greatly appreciated.

Calling all nymphs and venerable gentlemen!!!

Greeeeetings fellow freaks,

My name is Aernk (Frank) Watts and I am currently a film student at Bunker Hill Community College. Over the next several months I will be filming a 15-20 minute project involving a nymph, a colonist, and a metal-head. It focuses on their strange dynamics and crazy antics. The film is a comedy and should be alot of fun to make but still requires a few cast/crew members to make it work. If there are any actors or potential crew members out there, I would love to have you as part of my project. I can offer no compensation besides the fun of helping to make a movie but all are welcome to join me. Although a plus, no prior experience is necessary.

One of the characters for which we still require an actor is our narrator. He is a venerable gentlemen and the actor should be fairly aged or otherwise capable of acting wise beyond his years. A commanding voice is preferred. The narrator is a quirky individual who will periodically give commentary on the events of the film.

Also, though we have a promising lead, we may still need an actress for the part of the nymph. As one of the three main characters, her role is very important. We are looking for a playful actress who is not afraid to climb trees and perform other nymph-like tasks. Due to the comedic nature of the film, I am hoping for a nymph who is unusually tall or at least average height. Singing capabilities, though not necessary, are a plus.

The Nymph is a protector of her home--the mighty woods of Salem. In addition to her eternal duty, she works part time to keep the seasons running. Of the four, Autumn is her favorite but she keeps this a secret. Nymph will occasionally eavesdrop on any mortal who should wander through her keep. She's a very curious individual and will sometimes even walk amongst mortals. Those are rare encounters indeed. Nymph generally keeps to herself singing songs of hope in the trees high above.

In addition, I greatly require any help I can get from those proficient with makeup/hair (as well as other crew work). Though not a large production, we can use the help of anyone who is interested. Once again, filmmaking is hard work but I assure you it can also be a great deal of fun and I encourage anyone who is interested in participating to join us!

Please ask any questions you may have about this endeavor and I will gladly do my best to answer them. If you or anyone you know may be interested in becoming part of this, please just let me know! Looking forward to hearing from all of you!
Desperately seeking Model A

am looking for an early period Model A roadster for a film shoot this Sunday, 31 July. Our previous Model A will not be available.

The shoot takes place in West Medford, and call time for the car is 8:30. We have the location until 4:30, but I anticipate the portions with the car will be completed by noon or so. Car owners will be fed and renumerated for their expenses in getting to the location (please keep your receipts), and will receive credit in the film's final cut.

I would prefer to have a white car, but if push comes to shove a black car will do fine. The car will not be driven in the film, but will merely appear in the background of a few shots. The production is bonded and insured, and we do not need to perform any modifications on the car.

For more information, email me at ogygia.ave@REMOVEgmail.com. I hope someone can help me out with this!

Anyone know of any black tie affairs in the late fall, early winter, late winter early spring, that happen every year? Charity events are okay, so long as tickets aren't more than $100 per person . ..

How did you find Tribe?

I lived in Oakland for four years and friends from out there got me on Tribe to keep in touch with things going on out there. I'm pretty impressed with this place although it seems to be very Bay area focused....
